God kan julle bymekaar hou
Dit mag dalk ‘n verrassing vir jou wees, maar die hoofdoelwit van die huwelik is nie om kinders te kry nie. Paartjies wat nie kinders kan kry nie, is net so getroud as paartjies wat wel kan kinders kry. Jesus het gesê: ‘…Daarom sal ‘n man sy pa en ma agterlaat en hom by sy vrou voeg. So sal hulle tot een liggaam verenig word…’ (vers 5 NLV). Wanneer God na ‘n ouer en kind kyk, sien Hy twee. Wanneer God na ‘n broer en suster kyk, sien Hy twee. Wanneer God egter na ‘n man en vrou kyk, sien Hy een. Voel jy ooit of jy by die persoon met wie jy getrou het vasgevang is? Wel, jy is! Om te trou en een liggaam te word is nie wat twee mense vir mekaar doen nie, maar wat God vir hulle doen. Die huwelik is nie ‘n verhouding wat deur die samelewing, of die wet, of seks of selfs liefde bymekaar gevoeg word nie. Die huwelik is wat God bymekaar voeg. Die goeie nuus is dat wanneer God julle bymekaar voeg, kan Hy julle bymekaar hou. Deesdae is die algemeenste rede om te skei ‘onversoenbare verskille.’ Jesus het egter na die hart van die kwessie toe gegaan – die kwessie van die hart. ‘…Moses het egskeiding toegelaat as ‘n toegewing aan die sondige hardheid van hulle harte, maar dit was nie wat God oorspronklik bedoel het nie’ (vers 8 NLV). God kan julle harte teenoor mekaar versag en Hy kan julle harte teenoor mekaar oopmaak. Jy sê: ‘Maar ek het al alles probeer en niks werk nie.’ Probeer God! Hy kan jou eggenoot se hart verander en vir julle ‘n nuwe toekoms saam gee.
