The deadline for applications for the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development's Covid-19 intervention of R1.2 billion aimed to assist mainly smallholder farmers, will most likely not be postponed today. Reggie Ngcobo, spokesperson of the department, says it is highly unlikely that the closing date, which is today, will be extended, as the department is positive a large number of farmers have received the necessary information about the intervention. He says there is still time until 16:00 today to submit applications. Ngcobo could not provide the total number of applications received at this stage, but says it will be released on a later stage.
