Preservatives are typically used to preserve foods and to help increase the shelf-life of products. They also ensure that there is no loss of taste or flavour in the product over an extended period of time. Preservatives delay the ageing process of foods and increase shelf life or longevity of the food items.
But...not all preservatives are good for us...some are just plain dangerous!
